La Farola Lighthouse Museum, Málaga
Turning the lighthouse of the port of Málaga into the city interpretation centre, with an immersive audiovisual maze at its base.

A lighthouse is not visited. You look at it from outside and keep walking.
La Farola is the most photographed building in the port of Málaga and the least visited: an operating tower, with no route and no story. The brief was to commemorate its bicentenary. The reformulation was to treat it as the first point of contact between the visitor and the city, not the last. A lighthouse is literally the first thing anyone arriving by sea sees, and that threshold condition holds up the whole programme: whoever walks in is not visiting a lighthouse, they are starting Málaga.
Institutional programme
A management model on two bases, protect and conserve on one side, disseminate and encourage on the other, aligned with the Andalusian General Plan for Cultural Assets.
Visitor route
The square floor plan forces a circular route, so the visitor never has the full room in view. The inconvenience becomes the argument: the incomplete perspective is the subject.
MAZE 4D audiovisual zone
A multipurpose room with a scalable, franchisable audiovisual maze on first tier hardware, with stereoscopic 3D content and surface diffusers that take the experience beyond the image.
Archive of Explorers and Navigators
A bibliographic collection gathered over a lifetime by Miguel de la Quadra-Salcedo, digitised and cross referenced with historic archives worldwide. The documentary seed of everything that came later.
