First Coast, World Region of Gastronomy

Reading five hundred years of cultural blending as a food corridor and turning it into the first American region of gastronomy.

The real problem

Food was not the heritage. The blending was.

The region had restaurants, beaches and five hundred years of unconnected history. The region-of-gastronomy category existed in Europe and had never reached the Americas. The move was to stop selling a destination and start selling cultural continuity: five hundred documented years of mixed cooking, from St. Augustine to Savannah, the one asset no other US region can claim.
